My Movement Journey

Welcome!

I'm so happy you're here!

I’m Heather Corey – a land-locked, ocean-loving  Barre & Pilates instructor. When I’m not teaching, you can find me working with service dogs in training, sipping tea, and dreaming of the ocean – all while working on ways to share my passion for movement with the world!

I am a former dancer and "bendy body" and in 2021, after a lifetime of chronic pain and injuries, I was diagnosed with a rare connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.  I have since learned that enduring exercise that is painful for the sake of "no pain, no gain" isn't good for any body.

I believe movement should be uplifting, empowering and most of all - it should feel good - not just today but for years to come!

Teaching the methods of Pilates, Barre, Balletone, Dynamic Stretching and Recovery Movement, my goal is connecting with others while building a lifetime of movement and maintaining their physical and mental health no matter what obstacles came their way.

I  began my fitness teaching career as a certified yoga instructor. I then became a Certified Level 4 Essentrics® Instructor after finding the method after a dance injury. I then went on to be an Essentrics® Master Trainer, the first in the United States, to help train other instructors.

I have since trained and certified in Barre, Mat Pilates, progressive Ballet Technique and Balletone.

As a former dancer, I grateful to have more than 20 years in movement and fitness. I have taught classes and workshops to dancers, athletes, fitness professionals and people who want to stay fit, move and have fun.

Pilates

BUILD YOUR CORE STRENGTH AND STABILITY

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility, muscular strengthening and endurance movements. The technique emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscular balance. I take an embodied, contemporary approach to Pilates, bringing more flow into the movements so that you experience the perfect mix of strength, mobility and flexibility.

Essentrics®

The technique develops strong and flexible muscles with immediate changes to your posture.
